Abby's Next Adventure

With summer time swimming nearing an end and with big sister Ashley away at school, it was time for Abby to start a new activity of her own. Tuesday was Abby's 1st day at "My Gym." A fun place for kids that incorporate play time, circle time, and gymnastics. When I was telling Abby where we were going she was a so excited then she said, "We are going to have fun at your gym." I then told her no that we were going to her gym and the name of it is "my gym." Later on she was telling Ashley about it and told her that she was going to Mommy's gym. I had to laugh!! Why they had to name this place something that would confuse kids is beyond me. Oh well, she'll get it soon.

Abby had a blast playing on all the toys and apparatus. She especially liked the trampoline, imagine that! She is looking forward to next week when we get to go to "your gym" again. :)

Fun Times in the Pool

Since we have moved, the girls have been very busy swimming. They seem to want to get in the pool everyday we are home! One of Mark's night time rituals is to swim with the girls as soon as he gets home from work (this gives me a chance to get dinner on the table :) We will all be sad when it gets to cold to swim, especially our own Little Mermaid Ashley.

Ashley asks Jesus in her heart

Monday, August 25th started out like any other school night. We gave the kids their baths, and did family devotion time. That night we were reading about Adam and Eve and how they sinned and disobeyed God. We talked about how that sin separated them from God and that they had to leave the garden of Eden. After that it was off to bed. Mark went to put Ashley to bed. While there, Ashley was asking Mark questions about heaven. She said Jesus was in her heart, but she wanted to make sure she got to go to heaven. Then Mark called me in. We explained to Ashley that when we sin we are separated from God, and that we need a Savior to clean that sin out of our heart so we can go to heaven someday when God calls us home. We then reminded her of that Savior that she already knew, Jesus, who died on the cross to be able to take away our sins. We then prayed with her. She confessed her sin and asked Jesus to live in her heart. What a sweet moment!!! To have both Mark and I there during the most important decision she will ever make was amazing! I am so thankful to God for working in her little heart. It is such an amazing blessing to be a part of this journey she will have as she learns to follow Jesus. We would appreciate your prayers for Ashley as we know she will have many struggles learning to take the narrow road.

Ashley - The Big School Girl

I must say, Ashley starting Kindergarten has been very bittersweet. I have been very excited for her to start this next adventure in her life, but am grieving the fact that her first 5 years of life have literally flown by. As I sat writing her an encouragement card to give her on the first day, I began to get teary eyed knowing that things would change. However, I know that she will grow and learn so much this year which outweighs any of the sadness I feel.

I'm not the only one missing Ashley, little sister Abby was missing her as well. She kept asking me when we were going to pick up Ashley, and when we did she gave her the biggest and longest hug ever. I guess what they say is true, distance does make the heart grow fonder.

Ashley did great on her first day!! She walked right into the classroom met her teacher, Mrs. Ramirez and found her best friend Olivia. The first week went well, and we are slowly getting into the habit of driving to school each day. We are all looking forward to what this next step in Ashley's life brings and pray that God will lead us through it step by step. Thanks for your prayers for our family and your continued love and support. Stay tuned for a post about our little Abby.

It's time we entered the world of blogging!

I have often toyed with starting a blog, but the thought of keeping it up to date overwhelmed me and I always backed out. However, I am now motivated to start after viewing a friend's blog. Her blog helped me realize how quickly our children are growing up and that I can't miss out on another second of documenting their childhood in this way. So here I go...
